A Review & Analysis
Rocky IV
Classic movie - like a music video
I recall watching this movie at a young age and not really knowing why it was like the best Rocky movie I had ever seen.
After watching it as an adult again you really start to appreciate the fact that this movie is basically montage after montage with just fantastic 80s tracks lined up one after another. Not only that, but the acting and script really isn't bad and no one character is overly demonized.
All the Rocky movies have always had that sort of special storytelling spark whereby those we regarded as a bad guy ended up being just a normal guy (except for maybe Rocky 3) and even at the and of this one, Drago is viewed as just a normal man reacting to his environment and perhaps political pressure to be this anti-American beast.
One of those classic movies you want to be able to sit down and watch whenever you feel like chilling out. The emotions relating to Apollo's death are also pretty heavy since he was a central character in the Rocky series for the first three movies, and everyone's reaction to his death is well correlated to the audience.
